Catharsis (excerpt from "Splendid Isolation")

Once upon a tragic time

Restless words turn to pantomime

Forceful gestures give way to calm

Searing agony proves a soothing balm

Lucid speech begins to vex

A precious boon becomes a hex

Passion starts to apathy wane

Health itself proves to be thy bane

Intellect conspires to make you dumb

Sensation starts to make you numb

Desire and lust begin to satiate

Free will itself fulfills your fate

Once upon that tragic time

In a moment traumatic and sublime

A precious mold of mortal mass

Shatters like shards of broken glass

Releasing from the depths of a sturdy cage

A virtuous spirit of a timeless age

Once upon that tragic time

When the universe appears to commit a crime

Profound faith creates a lack of trust

Perceived inequity masks all that is just

Facts conflict with cerebral celluloid

As vacuum fills an imaginary void

In silence is heard a distant chant

In weakness that does courage grant

Lucid visions appear from a hazy cloud

Distant voices become near and loud

Mortal presence permeates the divine

Amorphous becomes crystalline

Erudite ideology with the power to cleave

Frayed shreds of a resilient fabric weave

Fusing every nucleus in a vast black hole

Proclaiming the naissance of every absent soul

Within the confines of a colossal mind

What was never lost is again yours to find
